The Eterra PDX-1000 Excavator Post Driver puts 1,000 ft-lbs of breaker-style driving energy on a mini excavator for fast, controlled fence installation. Its compact mounting position and interchangeable post guides make it easy to line up and drive everything from smaller fence posts to large wood posts and railroad ties.
A nitrogen-charged power cell delivers rapid impacts while rubber isolators help keep vibration out of the carrier. For difficult ground, an optional breaker spike lets you pre-drive the hole before switching back to the post.
Features:
- Breaker-Style Post Driving: Uses repeated high-energy impacts to drive posts efficiently instead of relying only on the weight and down pressure of the carrier.
- Better Excavator Positioning: The driver body sits closer to the machine, improving visibility, maneuverability, and the ability to put down pressure on the post.
- Handles Different Post Sizes: Interchangeable guides make the same attachment useful for a variety of wood, round, square, and other common fencing posts.
- Optional Breaker Tool: Pre-drive holes in hard or rocky soil before setting the post—a major advantage when ground conditions aren’t cooperating.
- Reduced Machine Vibration: Rubber-isolated mounting around the nitrogen power cell helps keep the repeated hammering from transferring directly into the excavator.
- Professional Fence Installation: Designed around crews putting in a lot of fence, where faster post placement and easier positioning can make a noticeable difference over the course of the job.

What makes the PDX-1000 different from a vibratory post driver?
The PDX-1000 is a breaker-style driver. A nitrogen-charged power cell repeatedly strikes the driver head rather than using high-frequency vibration, giving it the impact needed for demanding post-driving applications.
Can it drive railroad ties?
Yes. Eterra specifically demonstrates the PDX-1000 driving a 9″ railroad tie and designed the flat driver head for posts up to 9″. Ground conditions still affect performance.
What hydraulic flow does it require?
The PDX-1000 requires 13–21 GPM with a published operating pressure of 1,700 PSI.
What post sizes can it handle?
It comes with guides for 2″, 4″, 6″, and 8″ posts. Eterra also offers domed and flat driver heads, with the flat configuration capable of handling posts up to 9″ in diameter.
What is the breaker spike for?
The optional 60″ breaker spike lets you break or pre-drive a hole in particularly hard ground before putting the post in. It’s especially useful when dealing with rock or heavily compacted soil.
Is the PDX-1000 only for large excavators?
No. Eterra designed this version around mini excavators, but the attachment itself is substantial. Eterra specifies at least 1,500 lbs of machine lift capacity, and the complete attachment can weigh from 1,186 to 1,656 lbs depending on configuration. Carrier stability and hydraulic compatibility need to be considered along with coupler fitment.

Eterra Attachments are backed by a limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser.
- Structural components and hydraulic cylinders are typically covered for 1 year under normal use
- Gearboxes and drive components are covered, with wear items (such as seals) considered maintenance after the initial period
- Warranty applies to properly operated and maintained equipment within recommended hydraulic and usage specifications
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or operation outside of rated capacities.
All warranty claims are handled through Echo Equipment, where you’ll work directly with our team to get issues resolved quickly without the runaround.
Put the Excavator to Work Fencing
Use the reach, visibility, and positioning of your excavator to place and drive posts without adding another dedicated machine to the job.
Drive Through Tough Ground
Breaker-style impact power makes the PDX-1000 a strong option for hard, rocky, or difficult soil where simply pushing a post isn’t enough.
Pre-Drive the Tough Ones
Add the optional breaker spike to punch through difficult ground before driving the post into place.
- Professional fence contractors
- Agricultural and livestock fencing
- Orchards and vineyards
- Ranch and farm fencing
- Railroad ties and large wood posts
- Rocky and hard ground conditions
- Hillside and uneven-terrain fencing
- Commercial and property perimeter fencing
