Stout TrackClaws add removable traction to compatible rubber tracks for working in snow, ice, mud, and other low-traction conditions. Each TrackClaw clamps around the track and holds a chain across the tread face, giving the machine additional bite without drilling holes or permanently modifying the tracks.
Available in 10-, 12-, and 14-chain sets for a range of rubber track widths, TrackClaws can be installed when conditions get slick and removed when they’re no longer needed. Fitment is based on actual track width and undercarriage clearance, making them suitable for many compact track loaders, mini excavators, mini skid steers, and other rubber-tracked equipment.

What machines can use Stout TrackClaws?
TrackClaws may work with compact track loaders, mini excavators, larger mini skid steers, and other rubber-tracked equipment when the track width and undercarriage clearance meet Stout’s requirements. Fitment is based on the installed track rather than the machine model alone.
How do I choose the correct TrackClaws size?
Measure the rubber track straight across and select the corresponding TrackClaws size. Each size closes to its specified width and provides approximately 1/2″ of additional adjustment for a slightly wider track.
How much clearance do TrackClaws require?
Stout specifies approximately 1″ of clearance along the edge of the track and 2″ underneath from the inside edge. The clamps must not contact the drive system, undercarriage, machine frame, or anything other than the rubber track.
How should I check fitment before installing the entire set?
Install one TrackClaw on each track first. Move the machine through at least one complete track revolution in both forward and reverse while checking for interference before installing the rest of the set.
What set sizes are available?
We offer TrackClaws in 10-, 12-, and 14-chain sets.
How many TrackClaws go on each track?
A 10-chain set uses five TrackClaws per track. Larger sets provide additional chains that can be spaced around each track based on the machine and application.
How should the TrackClaws be spaced?
For a 10-chain set, Stout instructs you to measure the total track circumference and divide by five to determine the spacing on each track. Typical spacing is around 3′, although the actual distance will depend on the track.
Do TrackClaws require drilling into the track?
No. TrackClaws clamp around the rubber track and do not require drilling or permanent modification.
Can the chains sit diagonally across the tread?
Yes. Depending on the tread pattern, the chain may run either straight or diagonally across the face of the track.
Can I use an impact to tighten the TrackClaws?
Stout instructs you to start the Allen-head bolt by hand first. If an impact is used afterward, use caution and do not overtighten the assembly or curl the rubber track.
Do the bolts need to be checked regularly?
Yes. Check the Allen-head bolts before operating the machine each day and retighten them as needed.
Can TrackClaws be used on concrete or asphalt?
Stout does not recommend TrackClaws for bare hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. They are intended for conditions where additional traction is needed, such as mud, snow, and ice.
Are TrackClaws only for compact track loaders?
No. Fitment is based primarily on track width and available clearance. Compatible mini excavators, mini skid steers, and other rubber-tracked equipment may also be suitable.
Note: TrackClaws fitment is determined by your machine’s actual rubber track width and available undercarriage clearance, not the model name alone. Track width can vary with year, configuration, and replacement track choice. Measure the track straight across and verify at least 1″ of edge clearance and 2″ of clearance underneath before ordering. A model appearing below does not guarantee compatibility with every configuration.

Stout provides a 12-month limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser.
Chains are considered normal wear items under Stout’s warranty terms, and damage caused by improper installation, adjustment, use, or maintenance is not covered. If you have a warranty question or claim, contact us and we’ll help connect you with Stout and get the process started.
Get more bite from your existing rubber tracks.
TrackClaws put steel chain across the tread face to help the machine find traction when snow, ice, or mud would otherwise leave the tracks spinning.
Add traction only when you need it.
The clamp-on design makes TrackClaws removable, so you can install them for difficult conditions without permanently changing the machine.
Keep the rubber tracks intact.
No holes or drilling are required, preserving the original track while adding mechanical traction across the tread.
Use them across different types of tracked equipment.
Because fitment centers on track dimensions and clearance rather than one specific machine category, TrackClaws can suit a broad range of compatible rubber-tracked machines.
- Snow removal
- Icy slopes and hillsides
- Muddy job sites
- Wet construction sites
- Soft or slippery ground
- Winter property maintenance
- Compact track loaders
- Mini excavators
- Compatible mini skid steers
- Other qualifying rubber-tracked equipment
