What separates the Extreme Duty from the Brush Wolf Heavy Duty?
The biggest jump is the drive system and cutting capacity. The Heavy Duty uses a geroler motor with a right-angle gearbox and is rated for material up to 5 inches. The Extreme Duty moves to a direct-drive radial piston motor and increases cutting capacity to as much as 8 inches.
Do I need high flow to run the Extreme Duty?
No. Brush Wolf offers standard-flow models for machines producing 23-29 GPM and high-flow versions for 30-40 GPM machines. Matching the cutter configuration to your machine is important for getting the performance you are paying for.
How large of a tree can it cut?
Brush Wolf rates the Extreme Duty for material up to 8 inches in diameter. Actual production will still depend on species, density, hydraulic output, and how aggressively you feed material into the cutter.
Why use a radial piston motor on a brush cutter?
The radial piston motor is designed to produce high torque and recover quickly when the blades encounter heavy material. That means less time waiting for the cutter to regain speed after a hard cut.
What advantage does the open front provide?
The open V-notch front allows the blades to reach standing brush and trees before the deck completely contacts the material. It also gives the operator better control when selectively cutting saplings and larger vegetation.
Should I choose the 72″ or 78″ model?
The 72″ is a strong choice if you want to keep attachment weight down or are running a narrower machine. The 78″ provides additional coverage for larger skid steers and compact track loaders. The 72″ weighs about 1,490 lbs compared with approximately 1,610 lbs for the 78″.
Recommended for mid to large skid steers and compact track loaders with 23-40 GPM auxiliary hydraulic flow. Match the standard-flow or high-flow cutter configuration to the hydraulic output of your machine.
