Eterra Attachments | Vortex Mini Skid Steer Stump Grinder
The Eterra Vortex Mini Skid Steer Stump Grinder brings serious stump grinding capability to mini skid steers, and compact utility loaders. Its compact size makes it ideal for backyard access, fenced properties, landscaping, and other areas where larger stump grinding equipment can’t easily reach.
A high-efficiency radial piston motor and direct-drive system put the machine’s available hydraulic power straight to the cutting wheel, while the enclosed oil-bath hub keeps maintenance to a minimum.
Features:
- Made for Mini Skids: Rather than downsizing the job expectations, Eterra designed the Mini Vortex specifically around the hydraulic capabilities and maneuverability of modern mini skid steers.
- Efficient Grinding Power: The radial piston motor and direct-drive system are designed to put as much of the machine’s available hydraulic power as possible into the cutting wheel.
- Three-Sided Flippable Teeth: Rotate the cutting teeth as they wear to get additional service life before replacement, while rock guards help protect them when grinding around dirt, and stone.
- Better Chip Control: The Grade 50 steel housing is shaped to deflect chips downward, helping keep the work area cleaner while you grind.
- Protected Motor & Hoses: A wrap-around motor guard helps shield critical hydraulic components while working around stumps, roots, dirt, and debris.
- Low-Maintenance Direct Drive: The enclosed oil-bath hub eliminates external couplers and routine drive-system greasing.
- Multiple Mount Options: Available for Mini Universal, Bobcat MT, and Mini ASV mounting systems, covering many popular mini skid and compact utility loaders.

How much hydraulic flow does the Mini Vortex need?
The Mini Vortex requires 12–20 GPM. Eterra intentionally rated it up to 20 GPM to take advantage of the higher hydraulic output available on some of today’s larger mini skid steers.
How deep can it grind?
Eterra’s current specification lists a 9″ grinding depth, giving you room to take the stump below grade for backfilling, landscaping, or reseeding.
Does it require a case drain?
Yes. A case drain is required for the Mini Vortex.
What makes the Vortex different from a basic mini skid stump grinder?
The big story is the drivetrain. Eterra uses a radial piston motor with an enclosed direct-drive oil-bath hub instead of relying on external couplers. The design is focused on efficiently using the limited hydraulic power available from a mini skid while reducing drive-system maintenance.
How do the three-sided teeth work?
Each tooth can be flipped as the cutting surface wears, giving you additional usable cutting edges before the tooth needs replacement. Eterra also uses replaceable rock guards to help protect the teeth.
Does it throw chips everywhere?
Eterra designed the Grade 50 steel housing to direct chips downward and reduce chip spray around the grinder.
Will it fit my mini skid steer?
The Mini Vortex is offered with Mini Universal, Bobcat MT, and Mini ASV mounts. You’ll also need to verify that your machine provides 12–20 GPM and has the required case drain.

Eterra Attachments are backed by a limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser.
- Structural components and hydraulic cylinders are typically covered for 1 year under normal use
- Gearboxes and drive components are covered, with wear items (such as seals) considered maintenance after the initial period
- Warranty applies to properly operated and maintained equipment within recommended hydraulic and usage specifications
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or operation outside of rated capacities.
All warranty claims are handled through Echo Equipment, where you’ll work directly with our team to get issues resolved quickly without the runaround.
Bring the Grinder Into Tight Areas
Take advantage of the mini skid steer’s small footprint to reach backyard stumps, fenced properties, landscaping, and other areas that can be difficult to access with larger equipment.
Get More From Your Mini Skid
The radial piston motor is designed to efficiently turn available hydraulic flow into usable grinding power, helping smaller machines make the most of the hydraulics they have.
Less Drive-System Maintenance
The direct-drive system runs through an enclosed oil-bath hub, eliminating external drive couplers and the constant greasing associated with them.
Built Around Tree & Landscape Work
Compact size, low attachment weight, and multiple mini skid mounting options make the Vortex an easy addition for crews already using a mini skid for tree removal, landscaping, and property cleanup.
- Tree services adding stump removal to their mini skid setup
- Backyard and residential stump removal
- Landscaping contractors
- Fence and gate-access jobs
- Property maintenance crews
- Small land-clearing projects
- Stumps around established landscaping
- Contractors who already bring a mini skid to tree removal and cleanup jobs
