The SHIELDS John Deere Compact D Series polycarbonate excavator windshield replaces the upper or lower cab glass on John Deere 27D, 35D, 50D, and 60D compact excavators, with additional fitment for compatible Hitachi ZX-3 machines. Order the upper windshield, lower windshield, or both together as a set.

Both windshield sections are flat to match the original glass and are available in 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ clear polycarbonate, with a 1/2″ tinted option also available. SUPERCOAT™ is applied to both sides for abrasion resistance, UV protection, and continued windshield wiper use.

Which John Deere excavators does this windshield fit?

The lower windshield fits John Deere 27D, 35D, 50D, and 60D compact excavators. The upper windshield fits those same models, but serial-number restrictions apply to the 27D, 35D, and 50D. Shields Windshields Online Store

Are there serial-number restrictions for the upper windshield?

Yes. The upper windshield fits the 27D after serial number 255000, the 35D after serial number 265000, and the 50D after serial number 275000. The 60D upper windshield does not have a serial break listed by SHIELDS. Shields Windshields Online Store

Can I order just one windshield section?

Yes. Choose the Upper Windshield or Lower Windshield individually, or select the Upper + Lower Set to replace both sections together.

Does this windshield also fit Hitachi excavators?

Yes. SHIELDS lists upper fitment for ZAXIS27U-3, ZAXIS35U-3, and ZAXIS50U-3, with lower fitment also including the ZAXIS60USB-3. Shields Windshields Online Store

How do I confirm which windshield I need?

Check the OEM glass number on your existing windshield when possible. The upper replaces glass #4678909, and the lower replaces glass #4635167.

What if I don’t see my glass number listed?

Call Echo and we’ll help verify the correct windshield for your machine before you order.

What thicknesses are available?

Both upper and lower windshields are available in 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″ clear polycarbonate.

Is a tinted windshield available?

Yes. Tint is available in 1/2″ polycarbonate with 50% light transmission.

Are the windshields curved?

Can I reuse the original mounting hardware?

Can I use the windshield wiper?

Is the 1/2″ windshield forestry or ballistic rated?

No. Thickness alone does not establish a forestry or ballistic rating. Confirm the protection requirements for your machine and application before use.

I purchased a grapple bucket here, Stinger RG looks like its built to withstand the beatings of brush clearing and rock picking. Here's an update, absolutely love this grapple bucket, I cleared ¼ fence line of small trees, few times I got really abusive to the grapple, it took it like a king!
