M&M Attachments | Hydra Nip 6-1/2' Boom Tree Shear
The M&M Hydra-Nip 8" Tree Shear is built for skid steer and compact track loader operators who need reach, rotation, and precision more than raw cutting size. With over 6 ft of boom-style reach, this shear lets operators cut trees, saplings, and limbs around fences, ditches, trails, buildings, waterways, and other tight areas without needing to drive directly into the brush.
The big selling point is the 90-degree hydraulic rotation. Operators can cut small trees at ground level, rotate the head, and trim limbs or overhanging branches from the cab. With an 8" one-cut capacity, true flush-cutting design, fast cycle time, and lighter 575 lb build, the Hydra-Nip is a strong option for property cleanup, fence line work, trail clearing, pasture maintenance, and branch trimming.
Features
- Extended Boom-Style Design: Reaches farther than a standard shear, making it easier to cut over ditches, along fence rows, around buildings, and into tight areas.
- Rotating Cutting Head: Lets operators switch between ground-level cutting and limb trimming without constantly repositioning the machine.
- Compact Shear Body: Easier to place around small trees, saplings, and branches than a large-frame tree shear.
- True Flush Cut: Helps leave cleaner ground after cutting, especially in areas that need to be mowed, driven over, or maintained later.
- Protected Cylinder Placement: Keeps the cylinder tucked behind the cutting head to help protect it from brush, limbs, and jobsite debris.
- Optional Spray System: Allows fresh-cut stumps to be treated right after cutting to help reduce regrowth.
- Cut Capacity: 8″ trees in one cut
- Reach: Over 6 ft
- Rotation: 90-degree hydraulic rotation
- Branch Trimming Height: Up to 15 ft, depending on loader lift height
- Attachment Weight: 575 lbs
- Recommended Loader Capacity: 1,500 lb operating capacity
- Hydraulic Pressure Minimum: 2,500 PSI
- Recommended Hydraulic Pressure: 3,000 PSI
- Cylinder: Single welded cylinder
- Mounting Style: Universal skid steer quick attach
How much reach does the Hydra-Nip have?
The Hydra-Nip gives operators over 6 ft of boom-style reach, making it useful for fence rows, ditch banks, trails, buildings, and other tight areas.
What does the 90-degree rotation do?
The hydraulic rotation lets the operator turn the shear head for ground-level cutting, limb trimming, and better cutting angles without constantly repositioning the machine.
What size tree can it cut?
It can cut up to 8″ trees in one cut. Larger trees may be handled with multiple cuts depending on tree type and machine setup.
Can it trim branches?
Yes. M&M lists the Hydra-Nip as capable of trimming heavy branches up to 15 ft high, depending on loader lift height.
Does it cut flush to the ground?
Yes. The Hydra-Nip is designed for true flush cutting, which helps leave a cleaner finish for mowing, trail work, pasture cleanup, and fence line maintenance.
What size machine do I need?
M&M recommends a loader with at least 1,500 lbs of operating capacity, 2,500 PSI minimum hydraulic pressure, and 3,000 PSI recommended pressure.
Is this better than the Hydra-Clip?
For smaller trees, limb trimming, and tight access work, yes. The Hydra-Nip is lighter, reaches farther, and rotates. The Hydra-Clip is the better choice when you need heavier 16″ tree cutting capacity.
Note: Best matched with skid steers and compact track loaders with at least 1,500 lb operating capacity, proper hydraulic pressure, and enough machine weight for safe cutting.

M&M Attachments are backed by a limited manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser.
- Structural components and hydraulic cylinders are typically covered for 1 year under normal use
- Gearboxes and drive components are covered, with wear items (such as seals) considered maintenance after the initial period
- Warranty applies to properly operated and maintained equipment within recommended hydraulic and usage specifications
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or operation outside of rated capacities.
All warranty claims are handled through Echo Equipment, where you’ll work directly with our team to get issues resolved quickly without the runaround.
Over 6 Ft of Reach
The boom-style design helps reach over ditches, along fence rows, around buildings, and into tight areas where a standard tree shear is harder to position.
90-Degree Hydraulic Rotation
Rotate the cutting head for ground-level tree cutting, limb trimming, and cleaner angle control without constantly moving the machine.
Cut Trees and Trim Limbs
Cut up to 8″ trees in one pass, then use the rotating head to trim heavy branches up to 15 ft high depending on machine lift height.
Lighter Than Big Shears
At about 575 lbs, the Hydra-Nip gives smaller skid steers and CTLs a practical tree shear option
