The M&M Hydra-Snip 12" Tree Shear is built for skid steer and compact track loader operators who need more cutting power than an 8" shear, but do not want to jump into a heavier 16" model. It is a strong middle option for fence rows, pastures, trails, waterways, overgrown lots, and general property clearing.

With a 12" cutting capacity, flush ground-level cutting, AR400 blades, alloy steel components, American-made hydraulic cylinders, and heavy hinge construction, the Hydra-Snip is made for real land clearing work. It gives farmers, ranchers, contractors, municipalities, and property owners a simple, powerful shear for cutting trees and brush close to the ground.

What size tree can the Hydra-Snip cut?

The Hydra-Snip is built to cut trees up to 12″ in diameter, making it a strong middle option between smaller 8″ shears and larger 16″ tree shears.

Does it cut close to the ground?

Yes. The flush-cut design helps leave a cleaner finish in pastures, fence rows, trails, and other areas that may need to be mowed or maintained after clearing.

What size machine do I need?

This shear is best matched with skid steers or compact track loaders that have at least 1,200 lbs of operating capacity and the right hydraulic pressure.

Is this better than the Hydra-Nip?

Choose the Hydra-Snip if you need more cutting capacity. Choose the Hydra-Nip if reach, limb trimming, and 90-degree rotation matter more than tree size.

Is this better than the Hydra-Clip?

Choose the Hydra-Snip if you want a simpler 12″ shear. Choose the Hydra-Clip if you need 16″ cutting capacity and grapple control. The Clip is 2350 lbs without a tree – requiring large, high HP skid steer to operate.

What does the optional tree guard do?

The optional 48″ tree guard helps protect the machine and operator while cutting trees, saplings, and brush. We are going to recommend this option – protect your operator and machine!

Structural components and hydraulic cylinders are typically covered for 1 year under normal use
Gearboxes and drive components are covered, with wear items (such as seals) considered maintenance after the initial period
Warranty applies to properly operated and maintained equipment within recommended hydraulic and usage specifications

This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or operation outside of rated capacities.

I purchased a grapple bucket here. The Stinger RG looks like it's built to withstand the beatings of brush clearing and rock picking. Here's an update: I absolutely love this grapple bucket. I cleared a ¼ fence line of small trees, and a few times I got really abusive to the grapple — it took it like a king!
